This week I learned about the different levels of ePortfolios. The first level is digital archive. I have been doing this without thinking about it as an ePortfolio as I write and organize my lesson plans and materials. The second level which is a reflective journal or blog. Being reflective about what is put in a portfolio (the why behind what artifacts are in the portfolio and reflection on each artifact) help give the portfolio more meaning. I am sure that is why this reflective blog is a requirement of the Foundations of Instructional Design class. I have noticed that I am thinking more about what I am doing and why. The third level of portfolios is assessment or showcase. This is what you show to other people when you have finished collecting artifacts. For this portfolio I could showcase it as part of my resume to highlight some of my professional work. Knowing about these levels of portfolios helps me to be more intentional in creating this ePortfolio and gives me options to use with my students.
